Ermoupoli, Greece, March 18, 2019. The city of Ermoupoli, the capital of the South Aegean region, played host this past weekend to the 12th edition of the All-Star Game of the men’s Hellenic Volleyball League. Actually, the event took place for the first time in 10 years and it featured all of the home and foreign-born stars competing in the national championship. The Greek All-Star Team eventually edged the World All Stars 2-1.

It was more of a show than just an ordinary Volleyball match, with the night filled with many special contests. Charalampos Andreopoulos received the award for the Most Valuable Player following a voting process involving the members of both teams, while the fans that flocked to Dimitris Vikelas sports hall enjoyed a truly entertaining match and received gifts and souvenirs from the cheerleaders during the breaks.

The contest for the best setter went to Eemi Tervaportti, the Finnish-born player of Olympiacos PIRAEUS, after a great duel with Dmytro Filippov of PAOK THESSALONIKI. Gavin Schmitt, the Canadian opposite hitter of Olympiacos, emerged victorious from the spiking competition after one of his hits almost touched the ceiling of the sports hall. Theodoros Voulkidis, who plays as middle blocker for Foinikas SYROS, was the man with the fastest serve, as he reached a speed of 115.4 km/h.
